A. Douglas Rickard graduated from George Pepperdine
College (currently known as Pepperdine University) where he earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a major in accounting. This
educational background led him to work first with the Internal Revenue
Service as a field agent and later with Arthur Andersen as a staff
accountant where he became a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”). Eventually,
with his financial background and CPA designation, Mr. Rickard became
the Chief Financial Officer for several real estate companies including
Beverly Hills Bancorp and The Douglas Emmett Company. Mr. Rickard
obtained his Real Estate Broker’s license in 1981.
In 1979, Mr. Rickard became the sole owner of ADR/Preferred
Business Properties (fka Douglas Emmett Management Company through
December 1988 and as ADR Group through December 1996). Under
the name Douglas Emmett Management Company, Mr. Rickard managed two
large office buildings (a 26-story and a 14-story) in San Francisco
(Central Business District) and had offices in the San Fernando Valley
as well. During this period, the Company had over 2.5 million
square feet of commercial property under management.
Currently, as ADR/Preferred Business Properties
and its affiliate Nansco Management, Mr. Rickard has under management
over 50 Commercial, Retail, Industrial, and Multi-Family Residential
properties as well as approximately 50 single family homes.
In 1985, Mr. Rickard established a Development Division
wherein he has developed over 170,000 square feet of multi-tenant
industrial properties. In 1996, Mr. Rickard established a Lease
Audit Division whereby he has been responsible for obtaining client
settlements in excess of $750,000.
Among his past charitable activities, Mr. Rickard
has served as President of the Pepperdine University Alumni Board
as well as served on the Board of Directors for a small, private
school located in West Hills.
